Fallen by the wayside
she covers herself with shame
hiding from the shadows
of the memories and pain
Arms held tight about herself
she shudders and sheds a tear
she buries herself beneath the weight
of misery and fear
"Don't look at me" she now cries
fearing condemnation
~ a victim of circumstance,
abuse and damnation
High and low she looked for love
but brokennness was all she found
so now she cowers cold and alone
~ loneliness became her crown
But beneath the scars and suffering
beneath the shame cast upon her soul
God sees the beauty of the heart
~ far more valuable than gold
Stepping forth from Heaven's gates
He comes to set her free
from the shame that is not hers
and to give her dignity

Many things in this mixed-up life
may leave you battered, brusied and torn
but there's a God who moves heaven and earth
to reveal you're worth so much more
Faith is what we walk by
but it's born of the word He places in our hearts
the words "My child, I love you so"
as He takes us in His arms
He strengthens us with peace and joy
removing all the shame
He comes to impart His love into our soul
and He comes in Jesus' name
Tenderly He'll come to you
seeking to mend your broken heart
just let Him in, and dare to trust
~ and let the healing start
